Summer Holiday Check!

The summer holiday season is arriving and many people are going on holidays by car. This usually means the vehicle is being used different than in everyday life: overpacked, hauling, more kilometers etc. All these additional conditions cause extra strain on the car’s engine, driveline AND suspension.

Why you should also check the air suspension system in the “holiday check”:

Covid-19 crisis – Consequences for a vehicle’s air suspension system

Covid-19 has had the world in lockdown for a while now. With people being restricted in movement, many vehicles have been parked for weeks. In this article some of the consequences this may have on the vehicle’s air suspension system and how to keep the system in optimum condition.

Arnott now offers replacement magnetic ride shocks!

In addition to their broad coverage of air suspension products, Arnott’s now also offers magnetic ride shocks for vehicles equipped with the GM magnetorheological damper system (Z95 RPO).

This magnetically controlled shock from Arnott provides the same highly adaptive ride as the OE. The monotube damper is filled with magnetorheological fluid which is a synthetic hydrocarbon oil that contains iron particles that are easily magnetized. The damper includes two electromagnetic coils which, when turned on, instantly change the bonds between the magnetized iron particles to alter the viscosity and stiffness of the suspension. Arnott’s new magnetic ride shocks connect to the vehicle’s ECU with no modifications, are a direct replacement for the GM MagneRide shocks and consist of OES design & components.

VIDEO: The Art of Remanufactured Struts

Remanufactured original equipment air suspension struts offer customers an affordable solution for replacing a failing air strut while still maintaining the vehicle’s active or semi-active damping functionality.

1 min video on remanufacturing air suspension strut

Arnott has been remanufacturing air suspension struts for luxury cars, pick-up truck and SUVs since 1989. Arnott started remanufacturing used air suspension parts to keep them from filling up our landfills while providing the highest-quality refurbished products. In that time, Arnott has processed millions of original equipment cores identifying the most common failure points. Arnott engineers then strive to improve upon the original design to provide customers with a high-quality strut that works seamlessly with the vehicle’s auto leveling and active damping functionality and is less expensive.

Arnott remanufactured struts are inspected, steam cleaned, and then spin blasted to bare metal before the shock portion is recharged with new high performance shock oil. Worn shock components such as the piston and rod guides, as well as the seal pack, are replaced before being repainted with corrosion inhibiting paint and re-built with a new bump stop, premium brand air bladder, and other tier one components. Watch this video to learn more about the art behind properly remanufacturing air suspension struts. Don’t settle for less.

Arnott invites you to a FREE Webinar entitled ‘How Are You Inspecting Shocks & Struts?’ scheduled for Thursday, September 21 at 9 PM CET. The 30-minute Webinar is presented by Babcox Media’s ‘ImportCar’ and ‘Brake & Front End’ magazines and sponsored by Arnott Air Suspension Products. If you cannot attend the live webinar, a link to the on-demand version will be posted after the event on this blog.

Free Webinar Overview

Finding a failed shock or strut is easy, but inspecting a shock or strut for wear is difficult. Communicating the condition of them to the customer can be impossible, unless you have the right tools and knowledge.

It doesn’t matter if a shock or strut is attached to a coil or air spring, it will eventually wear out internally. When a shock or strut is worn out, it will lose its ability to control the movement of the suspension and body. The customer might not realize there is a problem until they have to perform a panic stop or sudden lane change. But how does a technician inspect a shock or strut if they can’t see inside?

In this 30-minute training webinar, featured presenter Andrew Markel, editor of Babcox Media’s TechGroup publications and an ASE certified technician, will discuss how dampeners wear and how a workshop can implement an inspection protocol to spot more worn dampeners, springs, and chassis components. The webinar will also discuss how to diagnose active, hydraulic, and air suspension systems.

This advanced diagnostic and repair training will also cover the following topics to help you become more confident and profitable in selling repair solutions:

    • What wears inside a shock or strut?
    • Is mileage a good guideline for replacement?
    • What happens to the ABS and stability control systems when a shock or strut is worn?
    • What is the life expectancy of a progressive spring or air spring?
    • How does the gas escape from a shock or strut? What happens when the unit is no longer under pressure?
    • What is the best way to road test a vehicle?

Who Should Attend

You should attend this webinar if you are a technician, service advisor, or parts professional who wants to be more proficient at air suspension diagnostics and repairs.

Thanks!

The Air Suspension range from Arnott Europe has been crowned a ‘Top Product’ award winner!

The award, given out by Professional Motor Mechanic Magazine is selected on the level of interest and enquiries generated by PMM’s 65,000+ readership. This makes the award a great reflection on Arnott Europe that we have made a real difference to the independent garage technician’s ability to maintain the high standards expected of modern day servicing and repairs with our high quality aftermarket air suspension replacement parts.

PMM top product award 2

PMM Editor, Alex Juggins said: “Although most product lines are available as aftermarket offerings these days, there are still some components that the independent workshop can only purchase through the main dealer – often at great expense to them and their customers. The introduction of a range of quality air suspension replacement components from Arnott Europe in recent times has meant that workshops now have access to these products from their motor factor supplier. As such, the range is a worthy winner of one of our 2016 Top Product awards.”
